Pumping your bike’s tires regularly is essential to keep it in top shape. You off course need a good bicycle pump in hand to make the job easy. For me, floor pumps have worked great so far.
Many of us measure a bike pump with its ability to pump air and the pressure metrics. I measure each pump with how comfortable it is and how easy it is to operate.
Serfas Fp-200 floor pump is one of the “Top of the Line” bike pumps in my opinion. It has got the design and the “Ease of Use” factor on its side. This review will explain how it outsmarts the competitors.
The Simplistic Design
This is a dual head pump like most of them available these days. The heads fit a simple valve. This head is a perfect fit for either Presta or Schrader valves.
Serfas Fp-200 comes with an ergonomic handle that helps when you are pumping. It doesn’t let you stress your hands too much during the motion.
Another plus in the design is the gauge. Unlike most pumps, it is “Top Mounted” and large in size. Coming to the base, there is a “Grip Tape” that you can use with the ground not to unbalance yourselves.
Super Comfortable Handles Make Your Job Easy
Most of the pumps are tight on your hands. While pumping hard for a period, you might feel soreness in your hands or even bruises might surface.
But with Serfas Fp-200’s ergonomic handle, pumping becomes easy and stress-free. The ergonomic handle conforms to your hands.
The grip makes the “Pushing” less painful than some of the other machines do. I had to change my earlier bike pump due to blisters on my hand. After using this for three months now, no more blisters have shown up.
Fits Multiple Tire Valves Easily
Serfas FP-200 has a simple head at the end of the hose. Other floor pumps have TwinHeads that require adjusting before fitting into various tire valves that we come across.
But this simple valve seamlessly fits these tires without much of an adjustment. If you are using Presta or Schrader valves, this head would fit it really nicely.
Plus, no change means you won’t have to waste few extra minutes and will get the job done easily.
The Top Mounted Gauge
When I compared my previous two pumps before Serfas FP-200, the pressure measurement gauge was at the bottom, and I had to skew over to see the readings clearly.
It undoubtedly required some efforts, and sometimes the readings weren’t correct. But Serfas has made the gauge bigger than its competition.
Furthermore, the gauge is mounted at the top. So, you can monitor the pressure while you pump with ease. It has the capacity of moving up to 160psi. Your tires will be inflated in no time at all.
The Grip Tape Holds the Pump
Serfas FP-200 has found a new way to stabilize itself. Instead of footpad or clamps, it uses a “Grip Tape” to keep itself in balance with the ground. Just stick the “Grip Tape” with the ground, and it will remain stable till you finish inflating the tires. This grip tape works better than a footpad and sticks to all types of roads and floors.
Pros
- The design is well detailed
- This pump can be used for car tires as well
- You will need 7-8 strokes to insert 1 pound of air in your car tire
- The pressure gauge has a red arrow that marks the ideal pressure you need to fill the tire
- You can keep the pump head off the ground with a clip that attaches to the frame
Cons
- The pump’s size is a bit small.
- Some bike owners complained about it struggling against Presta valves.
Final Verdict
Although the size of this pump is a bit small, it can take care of the load without exerting too much pressure on your hands.
The design is the main plus point of this pump. It contributes to easy usage too. Available in 6 colors, it is a handy tool to have at your disposal.
